Maintenance of industrial lifting equipment through remote connectivity
In Industry 4.0, downtime is the main enemy of profitability. A failure in an industrial goods lift can bring a production line to a standstill or block a critical logistics flow. To mitigate this risk, VINCA’s engineering team has integrated remote connectivity systems into its control panels, transforming corrective maintenance into an immediate, digital intervention.
Thanks to the implementation of state-of-the-art PLCs, technical support no longer depends exclusively on the physical presence of an operator, allowing real-time diagnostics from any location.
How does remote support work on an industrial goods lift?
Remote connectivity is established through a secure communication module integrated into the lift’s electrical control panel. This system allows our engineers to access the machine’s “brain” to perform various tasks:
-
Real-time error diagnosis
Using the management software, error messages and the status of all safety sensors can be viewed, including door interlocks, SAC system, pressure switches and other components. This makes it possible to determine whether a stoppage is caused by an actual mechanical failure or incorrect operation, such as a door that has not been properly closed.
-
Software parameterisation and adjustments
Plant requirements often change. With remote access, acceleration ramps, waiting times or levelling settings can be adjusted without the need to send a technician to the site, instantly optimising the performance of the hydraulic goods lift.
-
Data-based preventive maintenance
The system records the history of operations and work cycles. This makes it possible to schedule inspections according to the actual use of the equipment rather than solely based on time intervals, ensuring that critical components such as piston seals or traction cables are inspected when necessary.
Competitive advantages of connectivity in industrial lifts
Implementing a lifting system with remote diagnostic capabilities offers direct benefits to the bottom line:
- 70% reduction in response times: many operating faults can be resolved within minutes through a remote software reset or adjustment.
- Reduced travel costs: unnecessary technical visits for basic diagnostics can be avoided.
- Improved safety: the system continuously monitors the condition of safety components, providing alerts before a critical failure occurs.
Local visualisation: LED display and user interface
In addition to remote access, VINCA’s technical documentation highlights the importance of local information. At each floor, the industrial goods lift is equipped with illuminated control panels that indicate the platform level and status. Optionally, it can be equipped with high-brightness LED displays (30 mm) that show customised status messages and error codes, allowing plant personnel to know how to respond to a minor incident.
